![]() The valve I was talking about is indeed the "Float chamber ventilation valve' which is a very informative name, but is is also called the Vent valve for short (eg. I think that you have now added to the confusion. Hope all this stuff will also be jelpful to others. Even so the car now feels competiton which it never did before. Now I guess all I have to do is to get the mixture setting on both carbs in good balance. Anyway, I had no problem using hot water and a thermistor to set the opening of both compensators at 20 C. The specification for the compensators also mentions that the neoprene cones that closes the orifice when cold has a taper of 120 degrees which is probably where the erroneous figure of 120 crept in. Burlen state the temperature of opening should be 20 C(68 F). Now re the temperature compensators, I realise the figures for opening temperature that are given in are almost certainly wrong (namely about 120 F). Well so far I have not said a word, but will try to add a brief paragraph on where the valve is, what it is for and how to adjust (all courtesy of the training guide mentioned above) in due course.
